WordPress has already built-in feature for parsing and displaying RSS feeds. It’s enough to visit any WordPress powered blog and add “/feed” at the end of URL and RSS feeds will be displayed. For example, to see my articles as feeds you can visit www.LoneShooter.com/feed.
Feedburner is one of the most popular feed aggregator service owned by Google and it’s used by many bloggers and news publishers.
WordPress, by default, displays the whole article text in RSS feeds and if somebody are subscribed to receive notification emails from FeedBurner, the emails will also contains all text. What you should want to do is to display only blog article summary in order to keep feeds organized and easy to read.
Luckily, WordPress already has the option we need, so follow the next step to limit text that will appear in RSS feeds:
1) Login to WordPress installation admin
2) Navigate to Settings > Reading
3) Change option for “For each article in a feed, show” from “Full text” to “Summary”
Here, you can configure number of posts that will be listed in syndication feeds, too.
4) Save changes and your blog articles will display only summary text in RSS feeds from now to on.
